On November 10, 2017 a round table discussion “Movement of workers in the Context of the EU Eastern Neighborhood Policy” was held in Druskininkai. Participants: the counselor of the mayor of Druskininkai Irena Lytikienė, temporarily performing the duty of the Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in Belarus (Gdynia) Genadijus Mackelis, members of the European Economic and Social Committee Daiva Kvedaraitė and Gintaras Morkis, representative of the Ministry of Social Security and Labor of the Republic of Lithuania Rasa Malaiškienė, Deputy Chief Inspector of the State Labor Inspectorate Dalius Čeponas, Head of the Immigration Department of the Migration Department under the Ministry of the Interior Affairs Lucija Voisnis, Chairman of the Lithuanian Carriers’ Trade Union Petras Grėbliauskas and Vice-Chairman Audrius Cuzanauskas, member of the Presidium of the “Linava” Association Artūras Tementas, chairman of the Lithuanian Transport Workers’ Trade Union Forum Ramūnas Narbutas and other representatives of the trade unions and non-governmental organizations. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the situation of workers’ mobility in the context of the EU Eastern Neighborhood Policy. The participants presented the Eastern Partnership Initiative by the EESC, the EU directives governing the life and work of the third-country nationals, the SLI’s report on dealing with third country nationals trying to work in Lithuania, the Mobility Partnership Agreement, the procedures and hardships of employing foreigners and third-country worker’s problems.
