On the 3rd of November, 2017 a round table discussion “A New Skills Agenda for Europe. Working together to increase human capital, employability and competitiveness. What to expect in Lithuania?” was held in Vilnius. The event was attended by the representatives of the Lithuanian education and non-formal education, state institutions, trade unions, youth organizations and the EESC. Key topics were presented: the EESC’s activities, its members and the importance of this topic, the aspect of digitization and robotics, the threat to current work and how this could be addressed, the EESC’s opinion on the New Skills Agenda, representatives of the Ministries of the Republic of Lithuania shared information on what is already being implemented in the context of the implementation of the EC’s Communique on A New Skills Agenda for young people’s skills and competences. After the event, a discussion was held among all the participants in the event about education, its reform and what is being done and will be done to help young people in choosing a profession.
